THE TAX CREDIT IN ACTION: BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS
The hive at 21c + Rethink Food
To test the feasibility of the Chef-to-Community Tax Credit, Rethink Food launched a partnership with The Hive, a restaurant in Bentonville, Arkansas.
As part of this pilot, The Hive prepared and donated chef-made meals each week to Second Street Pantry, and Rethink Food compensated the restaurant with funds equivalent to what the Tax Credit would have provided.
The results were overwhelmingly positive: over 2,690 high-quality meals were provided to neighbors in need, and The Hive received a steady influx of income regardless of restaurant traffic.
