ON A MISSION TO
CREATE A MORE
SUSTAINABLE
AND EQUITABLE
FOOD SYSTEM
Rethink Food exists to bridge the gap between excess food and the communities that need it. Founded in 2017, we are a nonprofit growing a network to alleviate food insecurity.
We partner with restaurants to deliver 40,000+ nutritious, culturally celebrated meals per week across NYC and Miami—at no cost to communities.
38 million PEOPLE in the U.S.
lack reliable access to nutritious meals.
42% of the NATION’S FOOD SUPPLY
goes uneaten, responsible for 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
exists to bridge the gap, making better connections in our food system.
We connect COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS WITH LOCAL RESTAURANTS, KITCHENS AND CORPORATIONS to provide nourishing, culturally celebrated meals for food-insecure communities.
Our SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY KITCHEN expertly prepares excess food into quality meals. We also provide SUSTAINABILITY SERVICES to help companies reach their ESG goals.
We work with city, state and federal governments, to ADVOCATE FOR SYSTEMIC CHANGE.
Across all our work, we build and strengthen bonds, creating a NETWORK that is responsive, hyperlocal, and ready to meet the needs of our communities.
